Lidy and Ron Kok are proud to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their Pitt Meadows greenhouse and garden centre. What started out as a 2,500 square-foot bedding plant production green house in 1979 is now a green thumb’s destination for locally grown plants, high-quality plant products and superior customer service.
They are proud to celebrate 30 years of environmentally friendly gardening practices.
Amsterdam Greenhouses grow nearly all their own plants, from bedding plants to seasonals to specialty perennials. The plants that they don’t grow are all grown within a hundred mile radius. That includes fruit trees, nursery stock and even roses.
Selling home-grown and locally grown plants means Amsterdam Greenhouses doesn’t have to import them, which creates less pollution, but supports the local economy and local growers.
When it comes to pesticides, Amsterdam Greenhouses looks for alternative methods before reaching for toxic chemicals. Staff are happy to dispense advice to customers about the best, most environmentally friendly way to solve gardening problems.
This will be the eleventh year that Amsterdam Garden Centre is hosting Nature Days – a springtime festival that promotes awareness and education about environmentally friendly gardening practices, such as using organic fertilizers and incorporating native plants.
Amsterdam Greenhouses also runs seminars and events throughout the year. This year customers can register for their Sustainable Gardening series of seminars and learn about sustainable landscape design, gardening without chemicals and growing your own herbs and vegetables.
Staff members are experienced highly-skilled gardeners who are always available to answer questions and dispense advice. Their goal is to help novice and experienced gardeners reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of the hobby.

In addition to the vast and unique selection of plants in the greenhouse, the garden centre stocks all the tools and accessories you need to maintain and personalize your garden.
